BIRTH ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATIONS OF SRI GURUJADA VENKATAPPA RAO

On 21-09-2022, birth anniversary celebrations of Sri Gurujada Venkatappa Rao was observed on a grand scale in the College. Speaking in the Event, Dr. P. Srinivasarao, Principal, said that Sri Gurujada Venkatappa Rao is a prolific poet who strove hard to bring about a great transformation in the society. He enriched the Telugu Literature and elevated it to new heights with his creative endeavour. He is a rationalist. His writings have stood the test of time and act as the touch stone to evaluate various pieces of Telugu Literature. The Vice-Principal, sri N.J.K. Narendra Kumar, explained the true sense of the literary song written by Sri Gurujada, “Desamunu premimchumanna, manchiannadi penchumanna, vottimatalu kattipettayoi”. Dr. G. Srinivas, Head, Department of Telugu, said that any standard literary work should enumerate at least two points. 1. It should mirror the socio-economic and cultural conditions of the author’s times. And 2. It should instill confidence among the public to advance further at least by a step to liberate oneself from the existing conditions. It should invariably promote rational thinking, sense of freedom, values etc. Sri Gurujada is the only writer through whose works the Telugu speaking world witnessed a paradigm shift. He contributed a lot to the growth of Telugu Literature in the modern times. Dr. B. Saraswathi, Lecturer in Telugu, noted that his writings stand out to be novel and are suitable to all ages. He is a consummate writer who is inspirational to both practicing writers and ardent readers. Staff and students took part in the Programme organized and made it a success.
