Celebration of Telugu Language Day

The birth anniversary of Gidugu Ramamurthy Panthulu is observed as the Telugu Language Day every year on 29-08-2022. Speaking on the occasion, Dr. P. Srinivasa Rao, Principal, expressed that Gidugu Ramamurthy Panthulu simplified the use of Telugu Language and made it more prosaic and reachable to all. He pioneered in keeping the lofty language within the reach of the commoners in the Telugu speaking region. He is a polyglot, historian, social reformer, rationalist and so on. Dr. A. Venkateswara Rao, Lecturer in Telugu said that he is responsible for making the education accessible to all in the modern times. Mrs. N. Manimala, Lecturer in Botany opined that because of his tireless efforts, the flair and fragrance of literature and creative Endeavour have become the property of every sensible heart now-a-days. Dr. G. Srinivas, Head, Department of Telugu, felt that he learnt the language of the Tribals and developed the script to get them educated and made their lives very vibrant and livable. Dr. A. Santosh, Head, Department of History said that one’s love towards the mother tongue shall nourish one as the one’s own mother’s milk which shall in turn ensure one’s own growth and sustenance. Dr. B. Saraswathi, Lecturer in Telugu, composed a song on Telugu Language and sang along with students on the occasion. Staff and students participated in the programme.
